SAP has secured the naming rights to the future multifunctional sports arena in Munich. In addition, the world market leader for business software is supporting the construction as a technology and innovation partner. The new arena will be built in the Red Bull Olympic Park in order to optimize the infrastructure for professional sports clubs, youth work and public sports.

The main users of the new building on the Olympic grounds of the Bavarian state capital are the German basketball champion FC Bayern Munich and the German ice hockey champion Red Bull Munich. In addition, there is an extensive contract with the City of Munich for three further stationary ice rinks for training purposes and public ice skating.

"We are delighted to be the namesake and technology partner of the new hall in Munich," says Bernd Leukert, CEO of SAP and responsible for Products & Innovation at FCBB's Platinum Partner. "The building will not only offer the latest in matchday experience, the fans should also feel at home there. Because the new building is integrated into the Olympic Park and thus becomes an important part of Munich, we want the public and clubs to be able to identify with the arena".

Uli Hoeneß: "New hall to become a real masterpiece"

"Munich is the German sports capital, the city of champions, because last season both the EHC Red Bull Munich and the footballers and our basketball team won the German championship title," said Uli Hoeneß, President of FC Bayern Munich. "The new hall in Munich should now also become a real masterpiece and, thanks to the latest technology, help us to continue playing at the very highest level and to inspire our fans. With Red Bull and SAP, we have two strong visionaries at our side, with whom we will also be able to implement our claim to set benchmarks at all times in the new arena".

"Together with our partners, we want to offer visitors a very special stadium experience and give the two teams FC Bayern Basketball and EHC Red Bull Munich a new home in the heart of the city with state-of-the-art equipment," says Red Bull founder and Managing Director Dietrich Mateschitz. "FC Bayern Munich already operates one of the most successful stadiums in the world and brings a wealth of valuable experience in this field. And for the integration of technological innovations in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT), we rely on the know-how of SAP. In addition, we offer young talents a comprehensive training opportunity with the new infrastructure in ice sports".

Architecture and name competition

The architectural competition for the new hall in Munich is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2019. In order to find a name for the multifunctional sports arena, a competition will then be held in which suggestions can be submitted. "We are looking forward to active participation and creative ideas," said Leukert.
