This weekend's change to everyday league life demands special energy and concentration from the Bayern basketball players: After the unfortunate and exhausting 77-70 defeat in the EuroLeague against Maccabi Tel Aviv on Saturday, the German champion sets off for western Lower Saxony, where the surprising team in Vechta will face the leading team in the BBL. 5,000 fans in the sold-out Rasta Dome are waiting for the standings leader. Host Vechta is currently ranked third in the standings and has recently achieved a fantastic streak of 9-1 including a home win over Alba Berlin and last weekend's road win in Göttingen (82-79).

Vechta is delivering a much wonderful cinderella story this season and with a 32-12 points record, the team of the young Spanish coach Pedro Calles currently has five victories ahead of the six ranked team and their first playoff participation is almost certain.

"They play with most beautiful basketball in the league".
With an aggressive pressing and up-tempo style and their stretch of victories, FCBB managing director, Mario Pesic warned his team, "Vechta plays this season with the most beautiful basketball of the league, that will be a very difficult game".

But the Bavarians are long warned, because the success in the first matchup at the beginning of the season was  in danger until the last two minutes before Bayern squeezed out a 69-66 win.  The top scorer for Vechta is Guard Austin Hollins (16.5 ppg), followed by Seth Hinrichs (13.6), T.J. Bray (13.5/7.6 apg) and playmaker Josh Young (12.0). Vechta also reacted to the retirement of Power Forward Tyrone Nash last week with the signing of Center Clint Chapman from Ludwigsburg (2.08 m/ with Berlin). The Bavarians, on the other hand, may still be without Devin Booker, even though he started again to practice with the team.
