Philipp Köchling is always one step ahead of the rest. When it comes to collating, analyzing and assessing statistical data, the 42-year-old has been the resident expert at FCBB for a number of years. As an analyst, Köchling is able to interpret and evaluate the large amount of post-match data from a game and outline an opposition’s tactics in a scouting report.
Since 2000, Köchling has been an assistant coach in Basketball courts across the country and has enjoyed success stories at multiple clubs throughout the BBL. It all started in Köln under Svetislav Pesic, before he moved to Braunschweig, where he reached the 2011 cup final and the 2012 playoffs. He also acted as analyst and scouting expert in 2012/13 as Braunschweig reached the final and achieved third place in the EuroChallenge.
His good reputation eventually led him to Munich, where he began as Svetislav Pesic’s assistant and is now second in command to Dejan Radonjic. Köchling is currently in his fourth year as FCBB assistant coach and has been an important pillar in the club’s recent success.
